Deep Tissue Laser Therapy® is a non-invasive technique to help reduce pain and inflammation. Laser therapy can be safely used as an adjunct or replacement for pharmaceutical drugs. This treatment is FDA cleared and scientifically proven. Deep Tissue Laser Therapy® is beneficial as:
An adjunct to or replacement for prescription pain medication
A pre-surgery treatment to reduce swelling and bruising
A post-surgery treatment to accelerate healing and aid in pain reduction and decreased swelling
A long-term pain management system
Acute injury treatment
Laser therapy treatments last between 5 and 15 minutes depending on the condition being treated. The larger and more inflamed the area, the more time required. Deep Tissue Laser Therapy® treatments must be administered directly to skin, as laser light cannot penetrate through layers of clothing. You will feel a soothing warmth as the therapy is administered.
Depending on the condition being treated, your therapy will be administered via either a contact or non-contact hand piece. The contact hand piece is designed to allow the practitioner to physically manipulate the tissue while administering the laser therapy, thus resulting in a laser-massage treatment. This allows for light to penetrate deeper into tissues than with the non-contact hand piece. Some areas of the body are not conducive to treatment with the contact hand-piece. The non-contact hand-piece will be used in this instance and will be slowly moved about 1 inch from the skin over the painful area. Patients generally see results after the first treatment and will continue to realize benefits for multiple treatments depending on the condition. Your doctor and physical therapist will develop a treatment plan that is optimal for your condition. The laser can be incorporated into a physical therapy treatment program or can be done on a private pay basis.
