Job Description: Physical Therapist The position is for a full-time staff physical therapist. New Grads Welcome.
Position Purpose: To provide physical therapy services for patients. To include direct care, documentation, and communication with treating physician or other referral sources. To supervise care of services provided by physical therapy assistant, physical therapy aide, or athletic trainer.

Must be able to function independently, have flexibility, personal integrity, and the ability to work effectively and efficiently with patients, personnel, and outside agencies. Must be willing to assist in carrying out the objectives of Huntington Physical Therapy Services, Inc.
Provides evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment plans for patients in an assigned caseload. Implements treatment following the plan of care established by physicians and physical therapist, when appropriate.
Assumes responsibility for all reports, tests, evaluations, progress reports and information pertaining to physical therapy, which is pertinent to his or her specific case load.
Keeps current documentation as follows: Initial evaluation documentation produced within 48 hours, which will be hand-delivered or mailed to referring physician within 5 working days. Progress notes produced daily. Discharge summaries written at the time of discharge. Any other documentation needed to keep physician apprised of progress. Any other documentation needed to ensure reimbursement from insurance company.
All notes completed daily with billing charges.
Documentation will be in accordance with Medicare guidelines.
Communicate daily with patients, families, and allied professionals regarding individual progress and treatment.
Supervise students as assigned and adhere to the student manual or procedures.
Participate in continuing education yearly to maintain license.
Communicating and finding coverage concerning schedule changes and coverage of patients when out of the office for any reason. Patients are not to be cancelled.
Assist and participate in the development and implementation of public relations, in services and educational programs to staff, patients and the community.
Participate in team meeting as appropriate.
Perform other reasonable duties that may be assigned from time to time.
Direct clinical time 92%
Indirect time 8%
Training:Continuing education to maintain license and as outlined by supervisor.
Decision Making:Must be able to make clinical decisions, as well as problem solving of patients and staff.
Communication:Directly with patients, physicians, and co-workers.
Ability to use all of the following equipment:Nautilus, Cybex Fitron bike and UBE ergometer, Stairmaster, Treadmill, electrical stimulation, laser and ultrasound machines, computers, heart rate monitors, sphygmomanometers, elliptical, and any other new therapy equipment.
Knowledge Skills:
Knowledge of the professional physical therapy standards and practice to provide appropriate evaluation and treatment of clients. Knowledge of equipment and instruments utilized in client care. Knowledge of common safety hazards and precautions to establish a safe work environment.
Skills in applying and modifying the principles, method, and techniques of the profession to provide on going care. Skill preparing and maintaining written reports and responding to correspondence. Skills in developing and maintaining quality assurance measures.
Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations. Ability to interpret test results, adapt and apply procedures. Ability to maintain effective working relationship with staff medical community, patients, family, and the public.
Working Conditions:Clinical setting. Sometimes stressful. Some outside site works.
Education:Physical therapy degree from an approved curriculum. Must be licensed within the state of West Virginia. Has appropriate experience as a student or practicing therapist.
Physical Demands:Required full range of motion including handling and lifting of patients and materials. Manual and finger dexterity needed. Requires standing and walking for extended period. Occasionally lifts and carries item weighting up to 50 lb. Bending and stooping required. Requires knowledge and use of exercise equipment, computer, and other technical equipment. Corrected vision and hearing to normal range. Able to speak clearly. Required working under professional stressful conditions. Limited exposure to communicable diseases and or bodily fluids. Compensation: Salary Plus Commission
