We have provided custom orthotic molding for more than 20 years. Kelly Collier, DPT, is currently our therapist performing orthotic assessments. During an orthotic assessment, she will identify the patient’s foot structure, determine what the patient and referring physician are looking for in a custom orthotic, and then create plaster molds of the feet. The molds are then sent to Fiber Orthotics in Farmingdale, NY. Once the orthotics are fabricated, they are then sent back to us to begin the fitting process. If the orthotics require additional modification after fitting, they are easily returned to Fiber for the specified changes.
Here are the 5 steps we take in casting your orthotic, followed by a short video:
Patient interview focusing on activity level, footwear, height, weight, etc.
Standing assessment including gait analysis, balance testing, and heel raise strength testing
Seated assessment including flexibility, Range of Motion, Joint mobility assessment, strength testing
Prone assessment including identifying landmarks and a foot type analysis.
