PT Without a Referral
YES YOU CAN! While some health insurance plans require that your physician send
you to PT, most will pay without a referral. If you are not sure, call your insurance
company and ask. Or call us at HPT and we can check for you. It may save you
a trip to the doctor's office.
There are some instances that you should see your physician before starting
PT. If you have a heart condition, diabetes, or any serious medical problems,
you should see your doctor first. Also, if you have fallen or been in a
car accident, a medical evaluation to rule out serious injury should be
performed before beginning physical therapy.
